COURSE: Vibrations & Floor Dynamics

  • 2 Parts: 14 & 16 Oct 2025
  • 10am-12:30pm
  • Where: On-line Course

This two-part course (5hrs) delves into the fundamental principles of vibration theory, exploring its application in structural design. Participants will gain insights into the mechanics of vibrations in structures, particularly in the context of floor dynamics and response. The course will also present the practical aspects of vibration analysis, providing participants with the knowledge and skills to utilise both finite element methods and simple hand calculations for assessing footfall induced vibrations. Additionally, the webinar will cover worked examples to illustrate the application of these methods in real-world scenarios, enhancing participants' understanding through practical demonstrations. By the end of the course, participants will have developed a deeper understanding of the floor vibration issues, enabling them to confidently consider vibrations as part of their structural design.

All delegates will receive a PDF copy of the SCI Publication 'P354 - Design of floors for vibration. A new approach' along with some relevant Advisory Desk notes.
